The Department has not released a single all-India category-wise split; instead, community-wise consolidation (UR, EWS, OBC, SC, ST and PwBD sub-categories) is calculated separately for every division based on that division’s roster, and the same is displayed to each applicant during the online application after they select their preferred division.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) pass certificate with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a board recognized by the Central or a State Government. Candidates with an equivalent qualification from an unrecognized board are not eligible. In addition, the applicant must have studied the locally applicable language (as fixed for each postal circle) at least up to Class 10th, along with basic knowledge of computers and the ability to ride a bicycle.

Salary / Pay Scale (TRCA)
GDS employees are not regular Central Government staff; they are paid a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) instead of a fixed pay scale.

TRCA increases annually by 3%, subject to conditions, and Dearness Allowance is paid on top of it as declared by the Government from time to time. GDS staff are also entitled to GDS Gratuity and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme, which works like the National Pension System for regular employees. The prescribed working hours are a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 hours per day, and a GDS cannot be retained beyond 65 years of age.

Residence requirement: A selected BPM must arrange accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own cost and reside in the same post village, while ABPMs and Dak Sevaks must reside within the delivery jurisdiction of their concerned post office.

Selection Process
There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection is done entirely through a system-generated merit list based on Class 10th marks.
- Marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination are converted to a percentage calculated to 4 decimal places.
- Where a mark sheet shows only grades/points instead of marks, these are converted using a multiplication factor of 9.5.
- A system-generated merit list is prepared, and shortlisted candidates undergo Physical Document Verification.
- This is followed by a Medical Examination and Pre-Engagement Formalities, including basic training of 3 days.

In case of a tie in merit, priority is decided using a fixed order that starts with older age, followed by category and gender-based precedence as defined by the Department.

Select the preferred Division and Post based on the local language studied.
Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature as per the prescribed format.

Important Instructions
This recruitment has no written examination — selection is entirely merit-based on Class 10th marks.
