UPESSC PRT Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 – Educational Qualification
For Assistant Teacher (Primary – Urban), candidates need a graduation degree from a university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government. A recognised teacher-training qualification is also required: BTC, BTC (Urdu), Special BTC, a 2-year Diploma in Special Education approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), a 4-year B.El.Ed., or a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) recognised under the NCTE Regulations, 2002. Candidates must also have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the State Government or the Government of India. The BTC course is currently run under the name D.El.Ed.
For Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary), candidates need a graduation degree from a university established by law, or a recognised or deemed university or institution, along with a BTC or D.El.Ed. qualification from an NCTE-recognised course. They must also have passed the TET conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Government or the Government of India for Classes 1 to 5.
